I’m a big foodie – well duh, I write a food blog. My parents really valued homemade food when I was growing up, and they taught me to enjoy foods of all different kinds. My dad was always trying out new recipes, and lucky for me, he passed on his cooking techniques (and annoyingly light eyebrows) to me.

It makes sense then that I would want a career in food, but I actually didn’t figure out that I wanted to be a Registered Dietitian until after I’d already done 3 years of a Biomedical Science degree. For years I thought I wanted to be a doctor! But blood makes me queasy, so you can see why that didn’t work out…

Now I’m living in Waterloo, Ontario with my boyfriend working as a grocery store dietitian. I get to work around food all day and teach healthy cooking classes – it’s pretty much a dream come true!

Outside of work and food, I try to balance a social life, family time, fitness, “me time”, occasional travel, and this blog.

That’s pretty much me in a nutshell. Actually I should probably call it a seed shell because I’m allergic to nuts!

  2. I stumbled across your blog for the first time, tonight and was thrilled to read that you are from Burlington, Ontario which is my hometown ! I moved to Nova Scotia 17 years ago but would move back to Burlington in a heartbeat ! I haven’t found too many healthy food blogs sites that are Canadian and that I like. Yours is fantastic and every recipie I’ve reviewed so far sounds delicious. I have a list of ones to try. Thanks so much for sharing your information and recipes. I now have your site bookmarked.

      What a small world Michele! Burlington really is a great town (although you’d be surprised to see how big it has grown). I’m glad you stumbled upon my blog! If you want to find out about other Canadian healthy food blogs, I have a few recommendations. :)

          A Taste of Trace (http://atasteoftrace.com) is a fellow Burlington blogger who is vegan and posts about all the great recipes she makes from cookbooks and other bloggers. She’s also going on a year long trip to South America!

          The Honour System (http://thehonoursystem.com/) is also based in Burlington and she posts mainly recipes that are all healthy and made with whole foods.

          The Healthy Maven (http://www.thehealthymaven.com) is a Toronto blogger who posts healthy gluten free (and sometimes vegan) recipes and talks about her life in the city

          Yummy Beet (http://yummybeet.com) is based on the Norfolk area and she posts vegetarian recipes with gorgeous pictures. She’s also in the middle of writing her first cookbook and has a separate blog to chronicle her work on it.

          Running with Spoons (http://runningwithspoons.com/) is from Alberta and posts mainly healthy dessert, breakfast, and snack recipes that are all peanut free, and sometimes gluten free and vegan.
