Lately I’ve settled into a solid posting schedule of Mondays, Wednesday, and Friday. I like it. It’s not too frequent or too sparse, it gives me the weekends to write some posts ahead of time if needed, and the routine of it means you guys know when to expect a post from me.
But then I had to go and mess up my schedule by not posting this Monday. Sorry guys! I had a to-do list that was miles long and just not enough time this weekend. Not to mention my sister flew in on Friday after finishing her last exam, so of course a Saturday sister day was in order. We started with sushi at our favourite sushi spot and followed it up with Christmas shopping (okay, and a bit of personal shopping!) at Sherway Gardens.
Sunday began with an early breakfast and Lululemon yoga with my friend Tracey. One thing I really noticed about this class was that I was actually able to keep a clear, focused mind the whole time, which rarely happens for me – my mind is usually going a mile a minute thinking about things! It was nice to feel so “in the zone” for once.
Afterwards we picked up Allyson to join us for Kelly’s Bake Shoppe‘s one year anniversary, meaning free cupcakes! Totally worth the 15 minute wait in line out in the cold. I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t do for cupcakes.
Allyson had to run some quick errands, but then we met up again to go to Kindfood, which has now been rebranded as Lettuce Love Cafe. They have some new dishes on the menu that I’m dying to try, like avocado fries and vegan nachos! But those aren’t available on their Sunday brunch menu, so I got their tempeh chili, which was still a new-to-me dish. It was awesome!
As much as I liked their old name “Kindfood” and as much as I miss the QuinWow bowl on their old menu, I love their new image as Lettuce Love Cafe. It’s more hip, more modern, but with the same great service and food. And now I just have an excuse to go more often than usual, since there are now a bunch of new dishes I need to try! That’s a valid excuse, right?
The rest of my Sunday was spent tackling my to-do list like a champ. Laundry got done, food got prepped, room got cleaned, groceries got bought, and a good chunk of my readings got done. I had a huge list of articles to read in preparation for my family health team rotation of my dietetic internship, which I started yesterday. And I already love it! Life is good, guys. Life is good.
What’s the last free thing you got?
What did you do this weekend?
