Stoney’s Bread Company

My family has completely opposite schedules. I’m off when my sister’s working, my sister is off when I’m working, my sister works when my mom is off, I’m off when my dad works, etc. But somehow on Thursday the stars aligned and I had a day off when my mom and sister were off as well. I don’t think that has happened since our road trip back in May!

So we decided to take advantage of our luck with a girls shopping day. But first we needed to fill our bellies with some food. We decided to stop at Stoney’s Bread Company in Oakville, which we’ve been wanting to try ever since seeing it on an episode of You Gotta Eat Here.

We got there before noon, but it was already busy! So we hopped in line and had to decide quickly what to order. They have a fabulous pizza menu, but since I just had pizza on Monday, I decided to try one of their sandwiches. Hayley and I split the grilled chicken sandwich with kalamata tapenade, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, mixed greens, mozzarella, and feta on focaccia.

It was a pretty ginormous sandwich, so it was the perfect size for splitting. But I almost wish I didn’t split it because it was so good! I loved all the flavours together and the bread was perfectly toasted, but also soft and chewy. Along with half the sandwich, I also had a full size California Baby Field Greens salad with sun dried tomato vinaigrette and asiago. It was really fresh and the dressing was great, but I wish it had come with more vegetables on it.

After lunch we continued on the road to Sherway Gardens to do some damage to our wallets. I’ve griped on here before about how I’m a terrible shopper – I never know what to buy, so I always come out of the mall empty handed (Sam can attest to this). But this time I was successful!

Maybe it was because I had some good shopping fuel: Yogen Fruz! I love that they mix real fruit into their fro yo right in front of you.

This weekend I’ve been working every day, so I’m not doing much else – I’m always too exhausted to do anything after getting off work at 9:30 pm. I hope you all are having more exciting weekends than me!

Do you spend money easily? What are your favourite stores for shopping?

  1. Love the outfits you got! All such great, classic pieces! The necklace is awesome.

  2. I went to a “You Gotta Eat Here” restaurant last night! I have to say, that show can pick out some good ones. And at least you were able to pick up some clothes this time ;-) Love the stripes on the long sleeve!

  3. I was so upset when they closed Yogen Fruz in the mall near my house. I love having the fruit blended in. Looks like you got some nice clothes maybe even to wear to your internship! Cute.

  4. Er fro yo only makes the best shopping fuel ;)! Naturally I will be loading up before my trip to the mall tomorrow! I spend money much easier than I like to think…it’s almost dangerous ;)! I’m a Zara girl- more than half of my wardrobe is from there…perhaps I should look into buying Zara shares ha!

  5. Looks like some great clothes. Ugh, my closet SUCKS! I need some serious fashion help!!!!

  6. You picked up some seriously cute clothing!! I am especially loving that blazer.

  7. I love that about Yogen Fruz too! Now THAT is REAL fro-yo! I was at the farmers market last week and was so excited when I found the same type of froyo. I had a realization when I tried Menchies for the first time last week – the reason why theres so many toppings is to mask how gross/chemical tasting the “yogurt” is. ICK.

  9. That is a beautiful outfit you purchased, I love that coral-ish color! Yogen Fruz always makes great shopping fuel! I love getting pineapple mixed into mine!

When I first saw the picture of your sandwich, I first thought it was tempeh instead of bread!

For a guy, I’m pretty bad when it comes to spending! i’m unfortunately an easy sell… I remember when I was in Toronto, I went to that huge shopping centre in American apparel and the lady convinced me to buy this wooly sheepskin jacket…..It was also Summertime lol.

  11. glad you finally got some family time! :) i love shopping though i try not to do it toooooo often :)

  12. Oh man that’s a monsterous sandwich! Yum!

  13. Those outfits look very professional! I am glad you got some mom and sister time. Those days are always so needed. Plus you had some amazing food with the company!

  14. I totally feel ya on the busy family thing! When my mom, sister, and I got together this weekend for my sister’s birthday, it was the first time we’d gotten together in a month! Our schedules are SO opposite!

I go through phases when it comes to shopping…I won’t spend any money on myself for months and then all of a sudden, I go on little “shopping sprees” and basically abuse my wallet! Haha! My last shopping trip involved stops to my three favorite stores: Target, TJ Maxx, and American Eagle (the only jeans I can EVER fit into!). I came out with three dresses, two pairs of shoes, two pairs of shorts, three shirts, a purse, and some workout clothes (and of course a few foodie items from TJ’s…can never resist!)
