Romano’s Ristorante

I am pretty intense when it comes to studying – I study a lot! But at the same time, I also give myself a lot of breaks. It’s all about balance right?

So even though I have a big clinical nutrition final on Friday, when I found out my family was going out for lunch for my uncle’s birthday on Monday, I decided to give myself a study break and join in. I really wanted to see my family plus I can never turn down trying out a new restaurant!

Romano's Ristorante Hamilton

We went to Romano’s Ristorante, an Italian restaurant in Hamilton where my cousin works in the kitchen. I love good Italian food, so I was excited to try it out.

I started with a side house salad which came drizzled with balsamic vinegar and an olive oil based dressing on the side. I could taste the quality in both the balsamic and the olive oil, which makes such a difference.

For my entree I ordered the Spaghetti con Polpette, described on the menu as a “Tender and delicious blend of beef, veal and pork meatballs simmered in our tomato sauce over spaghetti.” I knew right away I wanted to order this because I’ve been craving some good meatballs ever since my homemade meatball failure a few weeks ago! I got the lunch sized pasta, which was the perfect amount.

I really loved the sauce, which tasted really fresh and not too sweet. The meatballs also had great flavour, but I wish they had been more tender. Overall though it was a good meal that reminded me of my dad’s cooking – you can’t go wrong with that!

Today I’ve got more studying on the agenda – with a few breaks of course. Lately I’ve been putting aside some time in the evenings to watch LOST with my family because I got them hooked on it! It’s a nice study break to look forward to at the end of the day.

What’s your favourite dish to order at an Italian restaurant?

  1. sounds like a great place! i am all about a good pasta sauce.

  2. Good luck in your exam! I loved taking study breaks even if its just to go get coffee or a cup of tea.. anything to dec-clutter your brain for a moment.

  3. I'm in the midst of an essay writing break right now – absolutely necessary sometimes!Whenever I go out for Italian (and my uncle is Italian, so if he's picking the restaurant that's usually the type he goes for) I usually go for some sort of seafood pasta. Italian restaurants just do shellfish so well!

  4. I study A LOT too but I am learning to take breaks. Especially ones that do not involve food or exercise! Those TV breaks of doing "nothing" are needed

  5. Study breaks are essential! A neighbour and I go on several evening walks a week and it makes all the difference in giving my mind a break and refreshing me for a few more hours of studying!
